DIY guide: Replacing brake pads and rotors on BMW E46 320d (M47D20)
Tools needed:
Tools needed:
- Jack and jack stands
- Lug wrench
- Brake caliper piston tool
- 17mm and 13mm sockets
- Torque wrench
- Brake cleaner
- Anti-seize compound
- Safely lift and support the vehicle
- Remove wheels
- Remove caliper bolts and hang caliper
- Remove old brake pads
- Remove and replace rotor
- Compress caliper piston
- Install new brake pads
- Reinstall caliper and torque bolts
- Repeat for other side
- Bed in new brakes properly
- Zimmermann or ATE rotors
- Akebono Euro or Textar brake pads
