How to retrofit cruise control on BMW E46 316i (N45B16)?

Parts needed:

Cruise control stalk (part number: 61318363664)
Cruise control module (part number: 65718375533)
Wiring harness
Brake pedal switch (if not already present)

Installation steps:

Install brake pedal switch (if necessary)
Mount cruise control module behind glove box
Run wiring harness from module to steering column
Replace steering column switch with cruise control stalk
Connect wiring to ECU
Code new module using BMW-specific diagnostic tool
