Replacing front wheel bearings on BMW E46 320i (M52TUB20)

Tools needed:

• Jack and jack stands
• 32mm socket (for axle nut)
• 17mm socket (for caliper bracket bolts)
• 22mm socket (for hub bolts)
• Torque wrench
• Bearing puller
• Bearing press or large socket for installation

Procedure:

• Raise the vehicle and remove the wheel
• Remove brake caliper and rotor
• Remove the axle nut (32mm)
• Remove the 4 hub bolts (22mm)
• Use a bearing puller to remove the old bearing
• Clean the hub and knuckle thoroughly
• Press in the new bearing using a bearing press or large socket
• Reassemble in reverse order

Torque specifications:

• Axle nut: 290 Nm
• Hub bolts: 110 Nm
• Caliper bracket bolts: 110 Nm
• Wheel bolts: 120 Nm

Note: Always replace bearings in pairs for even wear and handling.
