The BMW 325ti Compact (E46), produced from 2001 to 2004, combines the sporty dynamics of the 3 Series with a more compact and practical design. Under the hood, it features a 2.5-liter inline-six engine (M54B25), delivering 192 horsepower and 245 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h time of approximately 7.1 seconds. Power is sent to the rear wheels via either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission. The suspension setup, borrowed from the E46 sedan, includes MacPherson struts in the front and a multi-link rear suspension, providing a responsive and agile driving experience.

In terms of efficiency, the 325ti Compact offers a combined fuel consumption of 9.0-9.5 l/100 km. The car’s shorter wheelbase (2,725 mm) compared to the regular E46 sedan enhances its maneuverability, while maintaining good stability at high speeds. Inside, you'll find typical BMW quality with well-finished materials and standard features such as automatic climate control, leather upholstery, and an optional Harman Kardon sound system. While the 325ti may lack the full luxury of its larger siblings, its blend of performance and practicality makes it a compelling choice for driving enthusiasts.

Common issues with the 325ti Compact (E46) include oil leaks, often from the valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket, as well as the cooling system, which can be prone to failure. The plastic water pump and radiator expansion tank may crack or leak. Another frequent problem is the VANOS system (variable valve timing), which can fail, leading to performance issues. Additionally, rear subframe mounts are a known weak point in the E46 chassis and can develop cracks over time, leading to costly repairs if not addressed early.
